How do you motivate an underperforming co-worker?
My cat Bronson is facing this exact problem right now.
Our other cat Frank has a rare brain disorder – Myasthenia gravis.
He can’t scale fences or hunt.
As a friend and mentor, Bronson has started leaving half dead animals next to Frank in order to motivate him into action.
Maybe he thinks this will help light a motivational fire for Frank and he will start his job of culling the local animal population
Unfortunately, Frank just watches the offerings confused, until the CEO, (my partner) stumbles across the disappointing scene In garden.
The last offering, a tiny field mouse called Jimmy, has actually been onboard by frank into the team.
Jimmy is now on payroll, has promoted himself above Frank and only reports directly to the CEO.
Every morning Jimmy and Frank stare gormlessly out the window at Bronson as he leaves for the day. I’m sure they are both plotting a hostile takeover.
The learning? If you try to help motivate your brain dead co-worker by bringing them a half dead mouse, don’t be surprised when they stare at it confused with their tongue sticking out.
